Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigate
The Oliver Hazard Perry class is a class of guided missile frigates named after the U.S. Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, the hero of the naval Battle of Lake Erie. Also known as the Perry or FFG-7 class, the warships were designed in the United States in the mid-1970s as general-purpose escort vessels inexpensive enough to be bought in large quantities to replace World War II-era destroyers and complement 1960s-era Knox-class frigates.
The USS Reuben James is 56 inches long at 1/96 scale. This model was created with a fiberglass hull and gatorboard structure, and 3D printed parts were measured from ship tours. The model we have in stock was originally built over 10 years so, and has gone through a massive upgrade with more detialed pages. We have also added weathering to give the ship a much more realistic overoall look on the water.
I decided to build the USS Reuben James after seeing this ship in the "Hunt for Red October". This ship is updated since the movie with the launcher removed. I also weathered the model with some realisitc details of rust and salt run-off.
